Charles Van Dyk and Ptl. Andrew Poremba and he was charged with defiant trespassing. About three hours earlier, his mother contacted Wyckoff Police to advise that she had caught her son attempting to enter the house through a window after she previously instructed him to leave.

Police again advised him that he was not permitted on the property, and that he would be arrested if he returned. About 1:23am, Lt. Van Dyk observed the suspect return to the house via taxi, and he was again instructed to leave the area. The man left the area on foot and Lt. Van Dyk conducted a surveillance of the property. Within a half hour he observed him in the rear yard where he was arrested for trespassing. He was committed to the Bergen County Jail in default of $1,000 bail.

On June 25 at 2:07am, Wyckoff Police responded to the parking lot of Rockledge Mall, 303 Franklin Avenue; on a report of a fight in progress near CVS Pharmacy between numerous individuals. Sgt. Daniel Kellogg, Ptl. Mark Tagliareni, and Ptl. Michael DeMaio responded to find about 7 people involved in a fist fight. Midland Park, Mahwah, Franklin Lakes and Waldwick Police also responded to assist.

While attempting to restore order a Hawthorne resident, age 19; was arrested for disorderly conduct for making threatening movements and actions towards the police officers. After initially being handcuffed, and while the officers attempted to control the crowd, he began to flee from the area on foot and was apprehended on the property of a Birch Parkway home. He was additionally charged with escape from custody, resisting arrest, and obstructing a governmental function by freeing himself from handcuffs.

The Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded for injuries to one of the main participants of the fight and a 21 year old Wayne man was transported to Valley Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries and confined under ATRA laws for his high level of alcohol intoxication. Another individual actively involved in the fight, a resident of Delaware, Ohio, age 19; was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while his license is revoked. The local resident was released after posting $5,000 bail, and the other was jailed at the Wyckoff Police headquarters for 12 hours until his alcohol level allowed his release.

On June 26 at 1:15am, Ptl. Michael DeMaio observed several individuals in the roadway on Madison Avenue, and one of them was carrying beer cans. A Paramus resident, age 18; was arrested and charged with possession of alcohol while under the legal drinking age. Sgt. Michael Ragucci and Ptl. Mark Tagliareni assisted and the continuing investigation determined that a party was in progress at a Madison Avenue home where underage individuals were drinking alcohol. When the officers approached the home, several individuals fled the area, and several persons under 21 years of age were found intoxicated.

The homeowners daughter who was hosting the party, age 21; was arrested and charged with making property available for underage individuals to consume alcohol. The police officers cleared the house of the participants and made sure that anyone intoxicated was not driving. After ordering everyone to leave, the homeowner, who previously was asleep upstairs, reported to the officers that she heard noises in the basement. Sgt. Ragucci searched the basement and found a Dumont resident, age 19; crouched down behind some boxes attempting to hide. He was arrested and charged with trespassing.

All three individuals were released in their own recognizance and have been scheduled to appear in municipal court on July 22.

On June 28 at 6:06pm, Wyckoff Police responded to a home in the Sicomac section of town following a call from a mother that her 17 year old son was out of control and damaging the house. Sgt. Robert Mackay, Sgt. Michael Ragucci and Ptl. Peter Goodman responded and found that during an argument in which the boy claimed he had not been given enough spending money, he kicked his parents car, then ripped the mailbox post from the ground and used it to break deck railings and a window in the house. When confronted by police he shoved Ptl. Goodman and a scuffle took place in which the officer sustained a knee injury that required medical attention.

The boy was transported to Bergen Region Medical Center for psychiatric observation. He was charged on a juvenile complaint with aggravated assault upon a police officer and criminal mischief. The complaint has been referred to Bergen County Juvenile Court.
