Wyckoff Police responded to a home on July 30 at 9:50pm following a report that an individual had forcibly entered the home and sexually assaulted a female inside. Area police agencies and the Bergen County Police K-9 unit responded to assist. The subsequent investigation determined that the report was unfounded, and a 16 year old Wyckoff girl was charged on a juvenile complaint with making a false police report. She will appear in juvenile court. Sgt. Michael Ragucci and Ptl. William Plisich investigated.
On August 2 at 10:50pm, Wyckoff Police responded to a Woodbury Drive home following a report from a parent that he was aware that his 18 year old daughter was at an underage drinking party. Responding officers determined that about 20 underage individuals were in the rear yard of the home, and there were significant amounts of alcohol present. The homeowners son, Kurt H. Steinbruch, 460 Woodbury Drive, age 21; was charged with making property available for underage persons to consume alcohol. He is scheduled to appear in municipal court on September 23. Sgt. On August 7 at 10:52pm, a Wyckoff resident reported that his car which had been parked on Flaker Drive had been stolen. The subsequent investigation determined that the keys for the vehicle could not be located by the owner following a day trip with some friends. The car keys had in fact been taken by an individual in the group, who returned later that night and took the car. Jakov L. Batistic, 140 Phelps Avenue, Cresskill, age 20; was found by police driving the car in the Boulder Run Shopping Center. He was arrested and charged with taking a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner. Batistic was released in his own recognizance and will appear in municipal court. Sgt. Jack McEwan and Ptl. A suspicious vehicle parked on Woodbury Drive lead to the arrest of a West Milford man on DWI charges. On August 9 at 1:30am, Ptl. Thomas Tully observed a vehicle parked facing the wrong direction on the street. Joseph M. Jackson, 11 Plum Ridge Road, age 20, was in the drivers seat of the vehicle and claimed to be waiting for a friend in the area. Jackson was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated while under the legal drinking age and improper parking. He was released following a breath test and will appear in municipal court.
