CHCC Application
We have received many responses from concerned citizens about the application from the operators of the CHCC. This project to build 258 apartments requests numerous variances in Wyckoff alone; two of which are for building height and change of use. Because this property is in both Wyckoff and Hawthorne, this application is also being heard in Hawthorne.
After three meetings so far, last week the Wyckoff Zoning Board of Adjustment has determined the application is still incomplete and the hearing was postponed at the applicant’s request. The next scheduled ZBA meeting is Thursday, April 16 at Town Hall at 8pm. The agenda can be viewed at wyckoff-nj.com. The agenda may change, therefore please be aware that the CHCC application may or may not be heard.
Temple Beth Rishon Withdraws Request for Height Variance
Temple Representatives formally withdrew their request for a height variance sought for the expansion of the building located behind the Temple’s sanctuary. Originally presented, the Temple was seeking permission to build a three-storey building; Wyckoff’s height limitation covers all zones and limits the maximum height to 2 ½ storeys. We applaud and thank the Temple for deciding to build within the limitations of the Town Ordinance. If granted, the variance would have set a dangerous precedent, which opens the door for future developers throughout town to dramatically change the character of Wyckoff.
On a side note, the construction consultant for the Temple told the Board, they would be using “Green Construction” techniques in their new building. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first and only applicant to have presented using “Green Construction” in an application before the Wyckoff Zoning Board.
