Friends of Wyckoff Holds General Elections, Discusses Key Issues
On July 13th, Friends of Wyckoff, NJ held a general meeting to elect officers for the coming term. Linda Vreeland was unanimously elected to serve a two-year term as Chairperson. Linda has been acting Chair since November 2008 when Friends Co-founder Brian Scanlan stepped down following his election to the Township Committee. Friends Co-founder Mike Brienza and Diane Sobin were reelected as Co-Chairs. Toni Brienza and Martin Costello were newly elected to the posts of Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Executive Committee members Susan Steele, Ray Steele, George Pitts, Peg Conley, Janet Gaglione, Gail Scanlan, Andrea Mateo, Christine Wilson, and Robert Traitz will serve another term. Two new Executive Committee members were elected, Diana Ragone and Elaine Fichera.
Following elections, the Friends engaged in open discussion about issues that will have an impact on Wyckoff citizens, including Russell Farms and the CHCC multi-unit proposal, Sustainable NJ, and Preservation NJ. They agreed on action steps that could help maintain a desirable quality of life in the community. The group also solidified plans for the Annual Friends Pasta Dinner to be held on October 28th , and will continue with Electronic Recycling Day in Spring of 2010 based on past success.
Friends of Wyckoff is a non-partisan organization committed to improving the quality of life in Wyckoff, NJ by preservation of open space, trees, and historical structures and sites.
