Jamie Robinson, Office/Staffing Coordinator at The Longview Assisted Living Residence at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff, was recently honored by the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) as a 2010 Champion for Seniors.
“Receiving this award is a testament to your superior levels of commitment to your community, the seniors whose lives you touch every day, and the senior living industry as a whole,” said AFLA President and CEO Richard P. Grimes.
Ms. Robinson was nominated for the award by Pamela Rooney, CALA, CTRS, ADC, Longview Administrator, for exemplary professional service and commitment to seniors.
“Jamie goes above and beyond for staff and residents,” said Ms. Rooney. “She absolutely affirms that person-centered care is alive and well at Longview.”
While her primary function is staffing coordinator, she voluntarily does everything from pre-setting tables in the dining room, delivering clothing to residents who are in the Post-acute Care Unit, and even clearing snow from a resident’s car because the resident didn’t want to wait for Maintenance. When one of the residents, with no close family, was in the hospital for an extended
period of time, Ms. Robinson called her every day to offer words of encouragement.
“Jamie has a wonderful relationship with staff and residents alike and is loved by all,” said Mary Den Blaker, Longview Admissions Director.
AFLA received more than 900 nominations this year, and Ms. Robinson was one of six to be recognized as a frontline hero and champion of senior living.
The non-profit CHCC has served the community since 1911, providing a broad scope of mental-health and elder-care programs.
