The Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies (BCHSJS), the community Hebrew high school, held its annual celebratory dinner buffet on Sunday evening, May 31, 2009 at Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff, NJ.
Ron Rosensweig was the Guest of Honor for his keen understanding of the importance of Jewish high school education and a commitment to cultivating a Jewish community that offers rich educational and cultural resources.
Ron’s outstanding record as a communal leader includes service as a former JCRC chairperson, Super Sunday chairperson, scholarship chairperson, campaign chairperson, and President of the JFNJ. He also served as the merger chairperson, resulting in the establishment of UJA-NNJ. He continues to serve UJA-NNJ as a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees, Overseas Committee, Endowment Committee, as well as serving as a Trustee on the National Board of UJC. He formerly served as Vice President of the Association of New Jersey Federations. He has also served his synagogue, Temple Beth Rishon, as Vice President of Religion and President and continues to serve as member of the Ritual Committee. He has also brought his leadership skills to the soccer fields by serving at the Wayne Y as a Director of Soccer Tournament for the Maccabi Games and volunteer soccer coach for both the Wayne Y and Washington Township Y. He also served as a volunteer referee assignor, coordinating the assignment for the soccer tournament hosted by the JCC on the Palisades for the Maccabi Games.
Other honorees included Dr. Rand and Connie Stack, Parents of the Year, and Marcia Kagedan, who received the Educator Award.
Rabbi Dr. Kenneth A. Emert delivered the Invocation and also introduced Ron Rosensweig. Michael Goldberg, Temple Beth Rishon’s President greeted guests.
